Qingdao, China – March 20, 2026 – TTCL announced the successful completion of a critical pipeline modification using advanced double-stopple hot tapping technology. The operation was performed on a live PE250 polyethylene main, ensuring zero disruption to natural gas supply for local residents and businesses.
The project involved isolating a section of the pipeline while it remained fully operational at a running pressure of 0.3 MPa (design pressure: 0.4 MPa). By utilizing double-stopple hot tapping, Tai Energy installed two temporary plugs via hot tap fittings, creating a safe, isolated work zone without the need to depressurize or shut down the entire line.
“This successful hot tapping operation demonstrates our commitment to efficiency and reliability,” said a Tai Energy spokesperson. “Executing a double-stopple isolation on a live PE250 line at 0.3 MPa allowed us to complete the construction safely while maintaining uninterrupted service. Hot tapping remains our preferred method for minimizing environmental impact and avoiding customer outages.”
Key highlights of the project include:
- Technology: Advanced double-stopple hot tapping on polyethylene (PE) pipe.
- Conditions: Performed live on a PE250 line at 0.3 MPa operating pressure.
- Impact: Zero service interruption and no gas venting, aligning with safety and sustainability goals.
This milestone reinforces Tai Energy’s leadership in adopting innovative hot tapping solutions for modern gas distribution networks.
